A new tax year and more red tape as employers must now submit an RTI (Real Time Information) report before every payday. For weekly paid employees the first return is probably due this week and we have already trained one client in the process which in all honesty is very straightforward. Using Moneysoft Payroll Manager the steps are as follows:
- Make sure you are happy that everyones pay is correct – Pay/Pay details
- If you read our previous post in preparation for RTI, you will already have Validated the data for RTI, and amended employee hours fields but this may be worth revisiting
- Select the RTI button which will bring up another screen showing all of the monthly or weekly submissions which need to be made

- Select View/File which will bring up another screen showing what is going to be submitted
- Review to make sure the information is correct (ie everyone you expect to be paid is!), then Click the bar at the top to submit
- There is a pop up explaining that P45s and P46s no longer need to be completed, you can just accept this
- You can then save the submission as a pdf or print it, and check that it is accepted by HMRC
You will of course need to make a submission every month.
This article only covers the procedure using Payroll Manager but the principles are likely to be similar for other products. If you have any specific queries you should seek professional advice before taking any further steps. If you would like advice in this or other areas feel free to call.
